History of A.T. Alarms

A.T. Alarms was founded in Nottingham in 1979 by Stephen Abbott and his partner Stephen Trotman installing Intruder alarm systems.

In the 1980s the firm had expanded, we moved from our premises in Mapperly to Sherwood and gained NSI Gold approval (NACOSS as it was known then) for Intruder Alarms, Access Control and Closed Circuit Television Installations.

NSI, or the National Security Inspectorate, is the leading certification board for the UK Fire & Security Industry. For over 40 years they have helped businesses and homeowners receive robust and high quality installations and service.

Gaining and retaining NSI Gold status is no easy task. It means that we as a company have to be thoroughly checked twice a year by the National Security Industry. From site visits, to inspect the quality of our workmanship to office visits and procedure checks, right through to engineer background checks, it is all part of having the accreditation.

In 1995 the company became incorporated, and in the late 90's moved again to a larger premises in Old Basford, We then achieved NSI and BAFE approval for the Installation of Fire Alarm systems. These moves marked the positive transition for an independent local company.

Our philosophy has always been to establish close relationships with our clients to fully understand their requirements and to maintain links with them so that we can keep them informed of changes in the security industry.

The firm is committed to growth from within, with many of the staff having trained with the company. However, we have also been alert to the opportunities to make key appointments from outside so that new areas of expertise may be developed.
